Architect | Principal Designer
Ar. Shirish Barve completed his B.Arch from VRCE Nagpur (Now the National Institute of Technology, Nagpur). He started his own firm ‘The Architect’ in 1988. He believes creative thought, hard work and continuous evolution as the only way forward. He is in constant look out for innovation and fresh ideas to fuel his creativity. Coming from a humble middle class family, he considers his high ethical and moral values as his ultimate strength. Having grown up in a small farming town he is very sensitive to ecological causes and has tried to implement best environmental practices in architectural design and construction even before LEED/GRIHA was introduced in India. He is now a GRIHA certified professional.
Ar. Shirish Barve is the recipient of the prestigious ‘Young Architect of the Year Award’ amongst the SAARC Nations awarded to him by the Prime Minister of India. He has been nominated for the ‘Aga Khan Award’ for his projects in 2004 along with numerous national and state level competitions conducted by Government and private sector alike.
He believes in giving back to the society and hence provides honorary services to many religious, social and minority organizations. One such project which is worth mentioning here is the rebuilding of the semi-permanent school buildings in the Earth-quake affected areas of Bhuj in Gujarat in 2000-01. Because of the 1100 classrooms of 368 schools in 118 villages built in just a small period of 4 months, exams could be conducted in time, saving one complete academic year for the students. The then Prime minister shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee appreciated the efforts of the team and inaugurated these schools on 6th June 2001.
